Advocating for representation and empowering women to thrive in the construction industry.

Emmolina May, the only practicing Asian female adjudicator in New Zealand and a leader in large-scale infrastructure projects, was honored to serve as a panellist at the inspiring event “We Belong – Women Pioneering the Future in Construction.” The event, hosted by the National Association of Women in Construction NZ (NAWIC) and supported by BCITO, took place at Fulton Hogan’s new Tauranga office.

This remarkable gathering brought together trailblazing women from across the construction sector to discuss breaking barriers and shaping the future of the industry. Emmolina joined a panel of accomplished women, sharing her unique career journey and highlighting the importance of representation in a male-dominated field.

“As someone deeply involved in infrastructure projects and as the only Asian female adjudicator in practice in New Zealand, I understand the power of representation,” Emmolina said. “It’s a privilege to be part of conversations that encourage more women to join this evolving and rewarding industry.”

The event celebrated the progress made by women in construction while acknowledging the challenges that remain. Emmolina’s contributions emphasized the need for continued support and mentorship to ensure more women can thrive in this field.

“The future is bright for women in construction,” Emmolina added. “I look forward to seeing more women join this rewarding industry and am committed to supporting them every step of the way.”

NAWIC’s event served as a reminder of the collective power of women in construction and the opportunities ahead. Emmolina’s inspiring journey and commitment to breaking barriers continue to pave the way for others to follow.
