Building Awareness of Career Pathways
This week, Emmolina May joined colleagues Rachel Beaton and Kierstin Daviau to introduce secondary students at Aquinas College to career opportunities in the built environment. Rachel spoke on architecture, Kierstin represented engineering, while Emmolina highlighted the role of quantity surveyors.
Emmolina explained the diverse responsibilities of a QS, from managing project costs and contracts to implementing processes and connecting the dots across complex construction projects. She noted the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the students, describing it as an encouraging sign for the future of the profession.
Emmolina emphasized the importance of such initiatives in building awareness, inspiring young minds, and strengthening the pipeline of future professionals for New Zealand’s growing industries.
